McHappy Day is on May 8th 2025!!
Every year, McDonald’s Canada franchisees and crews across the country celebrate McHappy Day, an annual day of community giving in support of Ronald McDonald Houses and other local children’s charities.
McHappy Day continues to play a large role in providing Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador with the funds needed to support our House and the families we serve. Since McHappy Day was first celebrated in 1977, McDonald’s Canada, its franchisees and generous guests, have contributed nearly $66 million for Ronald McDonald Houses and local Canadian children’s charities!
McHappy Day is Thursday, May 8! This year marks the 31st McHappy Day event.
On McHappy Day, a portion of proceeds from every McDonald’s menu item sold all day go to Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) Newfoundland and Labrador to raise critical funds for our programs and the families with sick children we support.
Leading up to, and on McHappy Day, McDonald’s guests can make a $2, $5, or $10 donation in-restaurant and receive a McHappy Day paper heart to show support for families with sick children in their community. Digital hearts will also be available for a $2, $5 or $10 donation through the McDonald’s app.
Leading up to, and on, McHappy Day, you can buy a pair of McHappy Day socks for $6 (plus tax) at participating McDonald’s restaurants and through the McDonald’s app to support families with sick children. While supplies last.
On McHappy Day, and every day, you can Round Up at McDonald’s. Available in the Drive-Thru, kiosk and front counter. When you Round Up your order total to the nearest dollar, 100% of the difference supports families with sick and injured children across our communities.
On McHappy Day, enjoy $0 delivery fee* on all McDelivery orders, when you order through the McDonald’s app, DoorDash, SkipTheDishes or UberEats.

McHappy Day® celebrations on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 raised $88,449.37!
We want to thank each and every one of you, your management, your restaurant crew, your volunteers and your customers for an outstanding McHappy Day in support of sick or injured children and their families! Ronald McDonald House in St. John’s officially opened in September 2012 and since that time we have accommodated 1,700 families with a sick or injured child travelling for medical reasons. These families were able to stay comfortable and safe within minutes of our province’s children’s hospital and enjoy all the programs and services that Ronald McDonald House has to offer. With the average cost of hotels in St. John’s being $197/night, we estimate that Ronald McDonald House has saved families more than $12 M since opening our doors in 2012. These numbers continue to grow and everyday there are new families needing the programs and services at Ronald McDonald House NL.
