Family Programs & Services Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in supporting Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland & Labrador.
(Please note: to be an in-house volunteer you must be at least 16 years old. Once the application and orientation process is complete, volunteers 16 and 17 years old will be paired with another volunteer until the age of 18)
Family Service Volunteers: help with delivering programs and services at RMHC. They help with light administrative work at the reception area by greeting families and visitors and answering phones and accepting donations. They also help our families, by answering questions or providing assistance when needed. Family Service Volunteers also help us maintain the common areas, deliver programs, stock supplies and light housekeeping work. Family Service Volunteers will meet many RMHC families while they are working to ensure the house is always tidy and fresh.
Family Program Volunteers: act as partners to our Home for Dinner Program. Family Program Volunteers help keep our kitchen tidy, organized and ready for any group coming to prepare a meal for our families. These volunteers greet and assist groups while they are preparing food so they utilize the kitchen to its highest potential. Family Program Volunteers provide groups with a tour and information about our house. Generally these volunteers would be available from 1:30-6:30pm when there is a group scheduled for a Home for Dinner and need to be a reliable, outgoing, and friendly. Family Program Volunteers will meet many RMHC families while they are helping with the Home for Dinner Program.
Home Improvement Volunteers: Our house is very large with 17,000 square feet of space for our families. With such a large house there are many fix-it projects that come up. Volunteers who like to use their hands will work closely with our Family Service staff to help with tasks on our home improvement list. Our Home Improvement volunteers assist with minor repairs and maintenance of a clean, safe and orderly environment for families, volunteers and staff. Home Improvement Volunteers will meet many RMHC families while they are working to ensure the house is in perfect condition. Home Improvement Volunteers are scheduled with flexible times during the daytime hours.
